Northern Ireland Water are the sole providers of best quality drinking water and treat and dispose of wastewater (sewage) within NI. It places great importance on educating young people in the vital role water plays in our daily lives.
Their education programmes are free of charge with interactive sessions for Nursery to KS3 pupils. Sessions cover all things water including the cleaning of our water and wastewater, the water cycle and plastic pollution alongside all the little things we can all do to protect this vital resource.
Visit them at Silent Valley Mountain Park for an outdoor education session exploring this beautiful reservoir or at their Wastewater Heritage Centre, Belfast for a unique learning experience around a working wastewater treatment works.
They offer free resources including waterbutts, Buffaloo Bags and Leaky Loo strips to help reduce water consumption and save on water bills. Free reusable water bottles are also available for schools joining our ‘Refillution’ project which aims to reduce single use plastic bottles and encourage refilling from the tap.
